Lorna Muir

Lorna Muir has been involved in social work services for 20 years and is now the Assistant Principal Officer, Older Peoples Services in Renfrewshire Council. On appointment to this post in 1998 the role included the management of hospital based social services as well as Renfrewshire wide mental health and addiction services.

As registered manager for Care at Home Services she is now responsible for the strategy and development of local authority home care and housing support services in Renfrewshire. She also has direct operational responsibility for three extra care housing complexes, Renfrewshire community meals service and Renfrewshire Care 24 which is community alarms and telecare, overnight care, rapid response teams and out of hours home care management.

Lorna is vice chair and secretary to the Association of Directors of Social Work home care sub group and was previously a member of the National Care Standards care at home Scottish working group.

Renfrewshire was the first local authority in the United Kingdom to achieve accreditation to parts 2 and 3 of the Telecare Services Association Code of Practice.
