What is telecare?
Telecare is a service which provides people who are usually elderly or vulnerable with the support to help them lead independent lifestyles. Telecare equipment makes it possible for them to call for help and assistance when needed.
More than 90% of people say they want to live independently in their own homes for as long as they possibly can.
The Department of Health describes telecare as:
“any service that brings health and social care directly to a user, generally in their homes, supported by information and communication technology. It covers social alarms, lifestyle monitoring and telehealth.”
