Help for a young family
Mr and Mrs Jones live with their 13 year old son who has severe autism and physical disabilities and their two younger children. John is prone to getting up and wandering during the night, this can happen between four to 14 times every night and because of his disability John cannot go down steps without help. Night after night the parents would lie awake in bed constantly listening for John to try to get up.
When asked to help the family, TSA member Gateshead Care Call, installed a wandering client alert (Chubb Carer Alert) with a loud alarm which sounds when John gets out of his bed.
The family now have the reassurance of knowing that they can sleep at night as the alarm will wake them if the teenager is out of bed and walking around. The added advantage for the family is that the two younger children’s sleep is not interrupted in the same way as before.
