Summary of White Paper: Liberating the NHS July 2010

First impressions indicate that the gap between health and social care is closing, with GP consortia having commissioning responsibilities for a full range of patient services. With the demise of PCT’s the public health function will pass to Local Authorities, with the Director of Public health moving to Local Authorities and with the Department of Health continuing to play a ‘vital role’ in this area. A white paper on public health will be published later this year, with a white paper on social care reform due in 2011.
