National Minimum Standards for Community Equipment Services

The purpose of this document is to highlight significant risks and concerns relating to the delivery of community equipment services (CES) and the impact this is having on clients, organisations, and the English and Welsh welfare economies as a whole. In view of these issues the document goes on to stress the need for introducing National Minimum Standards, demonstrates the benefits this would bring, and identifies what areas of service delivery these should apply to.

The guidance sets out responsibilities for the joint provision of equipment and adaptations. It replaces precious guidance issued in October 1976. Your views are invited by 31 March 2009.
Living Well with Dementia – a national strategy

Yesterday (3 February 2009) the Department of Health published the long awaited National Dementia Strategy and has put Telecare at the centre of future care services. However, the Department is adopting a wait and see attitude towards working up a specific strategy around Telecare. This presents a great opportunity for Telecare to help shape this emerging policy.

NEW TSA CODE OF PRACTICE IS HERE

Telecare Services Association (TSA) has launched its new Telecare Code of Practice at the National Telecare and Telehealth Conference in Brighton. Telecare supports a variety of service users, traditionally older and vulnerable people and it is essential that there are robust and challenging standards for its delivery. The Telecare Code covers the whole telecare system from referral to response and identifies the importance of each component part along the way ie referral, profiling, service set up, monitoring, response and re-evaluation.
