Summary of White Paper: Liberating the NHS July 2010

First impressions indicate that the gap between health and social care is closing, with GP consortia having commissioning responsibilities for a full range of patient services. With the demise of PCT’s the public health function will pass to Local Authorities, with the Director of Public health moving to Local Authorities and with the Department of Health continuing to play a ‘vital role’ in this area. A white paper on public health will be published later this year, with a white paper on social care reform due in 2011.
National Telecare and Telehealth Conference 2010: Telecare and Telehealth – Drivers of Change

The National Telecare & Telehealth Conference 2010 is the largest UK event that focuses exclusively on telecare and telehealth. Conference 2009 had 814 attendees – up by 26% on the previous year, with over 70% of delegates being key decision makers (CEO’s, Presidents, Directors, Heads, Managers). It not only provides a forum for information exchange and education within telecare and telehealth innovation, but also offers an unparalleled opportunity for meeting commissioners, service providers and solution suppliers.

It is with great pleasure that I write as I begin my tenure as TSA’s Chief Executive. It is quite a time for the telecare and telehealth industry. With the economic crisis still a major issue, there are significant opportunities, as well as considerable threats. As the representative body, TSA will work with members through these turbulent times, ensuring the industry comes out stronger, and more relevant than ever.
Telecare Services Association appoints new CEO

The Telecare Services Association (TSA) is delighted to announce the appointment of Trevor Single as Chief Executive. Trevor will take up his post in mid-June.
Stop Press: 21CN breaking news
29 April 2010
BT has again reconsidered its plans for 21CN voice migration and has now confirmed to the TSA that it has abandoned further mass migration plans. This means that the plan to migrate a further 275,000 lines in the South Wales area beyond the range of the initial pilot will not take place.

The Telecare Services Association (TSA) Telecare Code of Practice continues to be the only nationally recognised quality standard for telecare that puts the service user (customer) at the centre of the standard. It has been developed specifically for the telecare industry by experts from across the UK telecare sector.
